Fifteen learners at Tjhebelopele Primary School in Bloemfontein each received a brand-new pair of school shoes from Windmill Casino, as part of the entertainment complex’s social and economic development programme.
The small primary school situated in Phase 6, Rodenbec, educates just over 1,600 learners from grade R to grade 7. The school identified these 15 children, eight of which are boys and seven girls, as in need of new school shoes and Windmill purchased Toughees for them.
“Having a decent pair of school shoes makes a difference in a child’s life. It gives the learner confidence, raises their self-esteem and gives them a sense of belonging,” said Windmill Casino General Manager, Johan Oosthuizen. “We hope these new school shoes give these boys and girls the ability to enjoy attending school more, and put their best foot forward and focus on their academics.”
Representatives from Windmill Casino and Free State Gambling, Liquor and Tourism Authority visited the school for the handover.
