We are excited to invite you to apply for the funded South African School on Internet Governance (ZASIG) 2024! This unique programme is brought to you by the ZA Domain Name Authority (ZADNA), the Department of Communication and Digital Technologies, and the South African Internet Governance Forum (ZAIGF) Multi-Stakeholder Committee. ZASIG cultivates a diverse pipeline of South Africans equipped with the skills necessary to shape the future of our Internet landscape.

It equips South Africans from various sectors and backgrounds with the knowledge and skills needed to participate in local, regional, and international Internet Governance structures. This funded program offers a comprehensive understanding of the Internet Governance (IG) ecosystem, including key issues, policies, and frameworks. It includes a three-day program featuring interactive lectures, roundtable discussions, and hands-on workshops on topics such as cybersecurity, privacy, human rights, and emerging technologies like AI and blockchain.

The program offers hybrid participation. It is hosted in Johannesburg and open to both in-person and online participation.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Individuals from diverse sectors, backgrounds, and ages.
  • Individuals actively participating or interested in Internet Governance.
  • Youth (18-35 years old), women, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Participants from academia, government, civil society, business, the technical community, and media.
  • Must be available and committed to attend the 2/3-day programme. (Online or In-person)
  • Must have a passion for Internet Governance.

It is ideal for individuals passionate about shaping the future of the internet, and looking to enhance their understanding and involvement in Internet governance.
