The Department of Social Development has a budget of over R205 billion and plans to support various projects and initiatives and improve services during the 2021/22 financial year. 

Minister Lindiwe Zulu, the Minister of Social Development, presented her department’s Budget vote on Tuesday, the 25th of May 2021. 

She said during this financial year, the department would also focus on amending the Children’s Amendment Bill, which sought to strengthen child protection services. 

Zulu said at provincial level, NPOs would get more than R7 billion.

“The department remains committed to funding non-profit organisations (NPOs) in their role as an extension of delivery arm of our social development services.”
