For the past 38 years, Mustadafin has been supporting all vulnerable communities in need, irrespective of religion, culture and beliefs. With Ramadan almost upon us, the Mustadafin Foundation encourages South African to embody the spirit of compassion and generosity, by contributing to the welfare of impoverished communities that are facing the ongoing scourge of gangsterism and poverty.
“Many of the communities in which we work have residents that are about to go into Ramadan, meaning that they will have to fast for a period of time. This is challenging as some of these residents’ experience hunger on a daily basis. Over the past two years, many communities in South Africa have faced severe adversity, with high unemployment rates and a lack of access to food,” shares Ghairunisa Johnstone Cassiem, director of Mustadafin. “With over 40% of South Africans going to bed hungry every night, the need for support has never been more crucial.”
Mustadafin Foundation, with 38 years of dedicated service to local communities, invites South Africans to be part of this donation drive for food items. “Your contributions will play a pivotal role in providing essential assistance to those in need,” adds Johnstone Cassiem.
How Your Donations Make a Difference:
Ramadan Food Parcels
Every Ramadan, Mustadafin Foundation distributes food packs to impoverished families across the Western Cape. These food packs feed a family of five for an entire month. On average the estimated cost of a food pack is R900.
Breakfast and Supper packs
To ensure that no child or person goes hungry during Ramadan, Mustadafin Foundation is also committed to providing Breakfast and Supper packs. These food packs are specifically designed for the orphaned, destitute, and vulnerable individuals in the communities in which they operate. A donation of only R80 will supply a Suhoor and Iftar pack.
Pot of food
Going beyond the month of Ramadan, Mustadafin frequently responds to community call outs with food distribution, clothing and essential good donation drives. One pot of food can feed hundreds of people who struggle to find access to a nutritious and regular food supply. A pot of food costs R3500.
“This is time for reflection and generosity. Even a small donation can make a lasting impact on the lives of those who endure unimaginable hardship on a daily basis,” says Johnstone Cassiem. “Donations are especially needed now as the colder winter months are approaching and many community residents are starting to feel anxious about shelter and food.”
