The Tomorrow Trust supports orphaned and vulnerable children, through a holistic approach both in education and personal development. One of our main objectives is to close the gap in education and we aim to do this by offering world class education to our learners and also by incorporating new programmes to elevate our level of education to different heights. Thus we introduce the Virtual Reality Programme.
Virtual Reality is a computer-generated environment with scenes and objects that appear to be real, making the user feel they are immersed in their surroundings. The official launch of the virtual reality programme took place on the 28th of March at Parkhurst Primary School with our Grade 02 learners. In 2021 we introduced the MakeShift programme which is part of our digital integration programme ,which includes robotics, coding and rangers – exposing our learners to advanced technology as we embark on the journey of moving to the virtual world. Through our partnership with Ulink VR, we are integrating the existing digital elements of our programmes with virtual reality with the objective of assisting our learners with psychosocial development challenges to adjust having in person sessions to virtual meet ups and online workshops.
The equipment and training is provided to us by Michael and Storm from Ulink VR.The programme will strengthen literacy and build more phonic development, we anticipate having the launch with eight selected learners and after have an informal conversation with them about the experience.Once the programme is launched all our Grade 2s will have their experience included in their Holiday School Programme timetabling. The Third world carries tremendous opportunities for growth. It is the ground for potential growth and will assist in getting us a step closer to reaching our goal in education.
We would like to send our gratitude to Ulink VR for providing us with the experience. The Tomorrow Trust is the first Non Governmental organisation to introduce the Virtual Reality Programme in South Africa, we are proud to be making history and elevating our resources to help our learners reach their full potential in life and their desired destiny.
