In a heart-warming initiative aimed at enriching local communities, Carnival City in partnership with Afrisun Trust recently made an impact at Tsimong Primary School, located south of Johannesburg, in Kwa-Thema.
On November 4, 300 essential parcels that contained sanitary pads and snacks were donated to young girls aged 8 to 13, providing much-needed support to help them flourish on their educational journeys.
The sanitary pads donation helps keep young girls in school during their monthly periods. “Many girls miss days of school each month because they cannot afford sanitary pads,” said Mrs. Zwane, the principal of Tsimong Primary School. “This donation is essential, as it ensures that our girls do not miss lessons, which is crucial for their learning and development.”
Led by Mduduzi Madonsela, Carnival City’s Socio-Economic Development Specialist, the visit was met with overwhelming gratitude from the learners. “The joy and appreciation expressed by the children underscored the meaningfulness of this outreach, and reflects our commitment to uplift those in need,” said Madonsela. “The highlight of the day came when the learners joyfully broke into song and clapped to thank the Carnival City team, which was an emotional gesture that resonated deeply with everyone present.”
This initiative is part of the continuous efforts by Carnival City CSI and Afrisun Trust to promote community development and well-being. “We are dedicated to fostering the growth and support of our local communities,” said Madonsela. “We look forward to returning and continuing to support local initiatives.”
