Last month, Bridgestone handed over a cheque to Pink Drive worth the value of R500 000.The tire and rubber company raised the money through The Pink Valve Caps project.
The cheque was received by Jody Braouto, Managing Director at Pink Drive. According to Braouto,they don’t receive any government funding hence they rely on corporate South Africa and individuals who have the means to support financially. “With out partnerships like this we would not be where we are, especially for rural areas. We really appreciate Bridgestone’s continued support to keep the wheels turning, added Braouto.
The nationwide Breast Cancer Initiative was started to raise funds to raise awareness and educate individuals.
Moreover,the project is geared to bridge the gap between private and public healthcare and address the needs of less fortunate, and medically uninsured by introducing Mobile Health Units which take health care to the community.
The #PinkValveCaps are sold at R75 per set through our Retail Partner, Supa Quick which has more than 260 franchises.The campaign runs from October to December and all the proceeds of the cap sales go to pink drive.
Pink drive is a South African NGO which was started to help cancer patients who come from disadvantaged communities.
Bridgestone South Africa also announced Cancer Survivor & Olympic Silver Medalist, Lawrence Britain as the Ambassabor. As part of the Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic partnership,Bridgestone has developed the campaign Chase your dream, no matter what.Through this campaign Bridgestone hopes to inspire one to chase their dream and overcome the obstacles they face on life’s journey.
According to the Operations Manager at Bridgestone SA,Chantel Baxter:”The Chase your dream campaign is related to all things that happen to us as people, things that are horrible but we manage to get up and do our best. We have olympic ambassadors from all over the world, who work with corporates and share their stories about how they managed to get through difficult times and continue to chase their dreams”.
“I jumped at the opportunity to become the ambassador of the Bridgestone Chase your dream because I feel like it resonates with my story.It has been amazing to work with them throughout the years,” said Lawrence Brittain.
He also emphasized the importance of supporting loved ones who have cancer.”When you have a family member who has been diagnosed with Cancer, it’s important that you support them through little actions. These actions really do make a difference,”concluded Brittain.
